About the course

This course will allow eligible NMC and HCPC registrants to acquire the qualification necessary to extend their role in prescribing and make the best use of their knowledge and skills to be able to improve patient access to medications, which aligns with the Government’s policy to modernise the NHS and improve its capacity to deliver accessible quality care to patients.

This course covers a wide range of subject matter, including: consultation; decision-making and therapy; influences on and the psychology of prescribing; prescribing in a team context, clinical pharmacology, drug calculations skills; evidence-based practice and clinical governance in relation to prescribing medicines; and management of effective prescribing including professional ethics, accountability and responsibility.
