Our specialist on-campus psychology facilities are an integral part of your learning experience and include industry-standard psychology laboratories, computing environments and cutting-edge technology. What’s more, these facilities are dedicated to Psychology, opening up your opportunities to turn learning into doing through hands-on practice, experiments and practical research.
About our facilities
Our specialist, industry-standard psychology laboratories include a multifunctional cognitive neuropsychology lab with EEG equipment, and a biological and cognitive psychology lab containing equipment and software for physiological data acquisition.
Our state-of-the-art virtual reality laboratory features omnidirectional slip-mills for unlimited movement in virtual environments; a range of tethered and untethered headsets; and eye-tracking capability. Recent research conducted in the department has looked at eyewitness memory and virtual reality, and virtual cognitive training on children’s academic performance
There are also dedicated teaching labs for psychology students covering a range of tutorial, seminar and workshop activities. Computers in these rooms come with quantitative and qualitative data-analysis software.
Our suite of dedicated research cubicles contains up-to-the-minute equipment and technology for student research.
Our equipment includes:
- EyeLink 1000 Plus and Tobii eye-tracker screen
- STISIM driving simulator
- Biosemi Active 2 EEG with capabilities for up to 256+8 electrodes plus sensor channels
- extended physiological recording facilities
- psychometrics and cognitive test library
- podcasting equipment.
We also have a counselling and coaching suite where you can put into practice the counselling and coaching skills you have learnt.
Our academic social space provides a relaxed environment for psychology students to socialise, work on assignments or to relax between classes. Within this social space, our Psychology library has a range of health, biological, counselling, developmental and forensic psychology books to borrow.
