Bethanie Ridout

Lecturer of Sports Therapy & Rehabilitation

I am Bethanie Ridout, Course Lead for the Postgraduate Taught Sports Rehabilitation and Therapy (MSc) at the University of Bedfordshire, where I also lecture in Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation at Undergraduate level. I hold an MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine from the University of Exeter and am an Associate Member of BASRaT, as well as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (AHCS). With a background in both clinical practice and academia, I am dedicated to supporting students in developing the skills and knowledge needed for successful careers in sports therapy and rehabilitation.

I graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy from the University of Bedfordshire before working in a Physiotherapy clinic. I then expanded my experience in elite sport, taking on roles with Northampton Football Club and Saints Rugby Football Club, focusing on injury rehabilitation and pitch-side care.

In addition to my academic role, I work as a self-employed sports therapist within a clinic in Northamptonshire. I collaborate with a clinical team to provide rehabilitation and injury management services, working with individuals to diagnose and support their recovery from sports and other musculoskeletal injuries.

I am also actively involved in ongoing research, serving on the expert board for a framework being developed to track injury causation and epidemiology within elite netball, with a focus on improving injury prevention strategies at the national level.
