Our Care Experienced Bursary offers eligible students, under the age of 25, £5,700 over three years and £7,600 for a four-year course (including with a Foundation Year).

Independent From Family Bursary
The University of Bedfordshire is strongly committed to opening up the opportunity to study for a degree to all students, without worrying about finance and funding. Our Independent From Family Bursary supports you if you are an ‘estranged’ student, studying without the financial or emotional support of your family. It is worth £5,700 over three academic years or £7,600 over four academic years (including a Foundation Year).

NHS Learning Support Fund
Nursing and midwifery students are eligible for additional support of at least £5,000 per academic year to help with living costs through this funding from the NHS. The funding is given to new and continuing degree-level students.
You will receive at least £5,000 a year, with further funding available for eligible students:
- £1,000 for specialist disciplines
- £2,000 for childcare costs
- Exceptional Hardship Fund of up to £3,000.
The funding does not have to be repaid by recipients.

UK Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship
The University of Bedfordshire values its alumni and is proud to offer a scholarship worth 20% of your fees for postgraduate on-campus master’s courses to those who have successfully completed an undergraduate Honours degree from:
- The University of Bedfordshire
- DMU’s Bedford campus
- The University of Luton
This scholarship applies to both full-time and part-time Master’s courses and is valid for the 2024/25 academic year.
Research Degrees (MRes, Phil and PHd)
The 20% alumni scholarship also applies to the first year of fees for a research degree for University of Bedfordshire Alumni.
Financial Hardship Funding
We don’t want money worries to get in the way of your degree success or enjoyment of your time at the University. So if you get into financial difficulties while studying, help is available through our financial hardship funding. This funding provides extra money if you need financial support to pay your course costs or stay in higher education. It can also provide help if you are on a low income or suffering financial hardship.

Luton Sixth Form College Scholarship
The Luton Sixth Form College Scholarship is offered to any student who transition from Luton Sixth Form College to the University of Bedfordshire. This scholarship is available to those who achieve over 120 UCAS points and is valued at £2,000 over the duration of a three year undergraduate program. The award is distributed as follows: £1,000 in the first year, £500 in the second year, and £500 in the third year.
Students who meet the criteria for the High Achievers Scholarship will be awarded this scholarship instead of the Luton Sixth Form College Scholarship.
Students do not need to apply for this scholarship; it will be automatically awarded upon registration at the University.
Please note that the Terms and Conditions for the Excellence Scholarship apply. Additionally, students must apply using the LSFC UCAS Buzzword to enable the University to verify their previous place of study.
Sport Scholarships
Sport scholarships are designed to develop and support talented students here at the University of Bedfordshire.
The sport scholarships on offer here provide financial and performance support services that utilise the University’s outstanding facilities.
To be eligible for a sport scholarship you must:
- be of regional, county, national or international standard or have played in BUCS within the last 12 months
- have been accepted onto one of the University’s full-time courses or already on a course.
Sport scholarships are open to home or international, undergraduate or postgraduate students.
Please note, meeting the sport scholarships' criteria does not guarantee being awarded a scholarship.
