The Bedfordshire Foundation Course is designed to help you with the language and broad subject content to address a language shortfall, additionally some students have an academic shortfall. The course combines English language, study skills for university, IT and maths, and, for some, provides subject specialist areas which will help you to progress on to your main degree programme.
The course aims to take people from an overall IELTS 4.5 up to IELTS 5.5, or above, the minimum requirement for UG courses at Bedfordshire. As well as the language element, the BFC programme can provide you some subject-specific lessons to help make up for any academic shortfall so that you are up to A-Level standards in your chosen field.
This course has helped me to be a creative thinker and to be broad minded. I also have to mention that the course leads to the degree course successfully.

In addition to the English Language elements there is also study skills support to familiarise you with the conventions of British university life. For more information on the subjects and other details, see the relevant Course Information Form (CIF) and course handbook, available from your teacher or on BREO.
The open IT suite in the Language Centre is an excellent place for independent language development. Resources are pre-installed on the PCs and University of Bedfordshire students can access online materials available on BREO within the 'Improve your communication skills' community from anywhere.
The independent learning materials cover IELTS preparation, academic skills, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, etc.
Books and resources on English grammar, vocabulary, academic writing, exam preparation, etc are available for you to use on the premises for independent study.
