Charlie Ball, Jisc, Head of Market Labour Intelligence
Charlie Ball is an expert in the graduate labour market, specializing in the analysis and interpretation of post-18 employment data, with a particular focus on regional economies, skills supply and demand, and postgraduate issues. With over 20 years of experience, he has a deep understanding of the interactions between higher education, graduate outcomes, and the wider economy, particularly at local and regional levels. He has authored numerous reports on various aspects of higher education, including graduate migration, STEM employment, and regional job markets. Charlie has contributed to several key advisory bodies, including AGCAS, the Institute of Student Employers, and the Graduate Outcomes steering group. He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Careers Education and Counselling (NICEC) and a Visiting Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University. Charlie is a highly regarded speaker and regularly delivers keynotes and workshops on graduate employability, skills classification systems, and local labour markets. Additionally, he is a leading figure in higher education careers research, managing a research fund for academics in the field through Jisc.
