Session 2
Why Numbers Matter in Social Work
Building on the approach of session 1, the importance of why numbers matter in social work will be explored.
Two issues of importance to social work will be looked at (one for child and family work and one for adult services). You will also learn about the meaning behind the numbers/statistics and the implications these have on and for policy and practice.
At the end of this session you will be able to:
- recognise that numbers are an important aspect of social work;
- understand some basic statistical concepts such as incidence, prevalence and comparison.
