Once you’ve found the course you’d like to apply for, make sure you have, or are aiming to achieve, the entry requirements for that course.

Undergraduate Applicants

Applying from the UK? 

UCAS Tariff – Achieving between 80 and 96 points

There are many different ways of achieving 96 UCAS Tariff points including:

  • 3 A-levels – Grades CCC, or ACE
  • 2 A-levels plus 2 AS – Grades CC+bb, or CD+aa
  • 2 A-levels plus 1 AS plus Extended Project – Grades CC+b+C, or BC+c+D
  • 1 A-level plus BTEC Diploma – Grades C+MM
  • BTEC Extended Diploma – Grades MMM
  • Access to HE Diploma – Grades Dx9 + Mx27 + Px9, or Mx45

Achieving between 96 – 112 points

There are many different ways of achieving 112 UCAS Tariff points including:

  • 3 A-levels – Grades BCC, or ACD
  • 2 A-levels plus 2 AS – Grades BC+bb, or CC+aa
  • 2 A-levels plus 1 AS plus Extended Project – Grades BC+b+C, or BB+d+C
  • 1 A-level plus BTEC Diploma – Grades B+MM
  • BTEC Extended Diploma – Grades DMM
  • Access to HE Diploma – Grades Dx18 + Mx21 + Px6, or Dx9 + Mx36

Achieving between 112 - 120 points

There are many different ways of achieving 120 UCAS Tariff points including:

  • 3 A-levels – Grades BBB, or A*CC
  • 2 A-levels plus 2 AS – Grades BB+aa, or AB+bb
  • 2 A-levels plus 1 AS plus Extended Project – Grades BB+b+A, or AB+b+C
  • 1 A-level plus BTEC Diploma – Grades A+DM, or D+DD
  • BTEC Extended Diploma – Grades DDM
  • Access to HE Diploma – Grades Dx27 + Mx15 + Px3, or Dx24 + Mx21

We also accept qualifications that are equivalent to A-Levels that can be used in combination. These include:

  • BTEC Extended Diploma
  • BTEC Extended Certificate
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma
  • Scottish Higher Qualification

Standard entry requirements for Postgraduate degrees (MA/MSc/MBA/LLM)

This information is provided as a general guide only. Entry requirements will vary for particular courses so please check the specific course description before applying.

We consider applicants as individuals and take into account all aspects of your application as well as enthusiasm for the subject you wish to study.

The normal entry requirements for postgraduate degrees are a good Honours degree in an appropriate subject from a recognised university.

We may also consider candidates with other relevant qualifications and individuals with substantial related work experience.

Applicants who not have English as a first language will be required to demonstrate they have the correct level of English for their course.

Recognition of prior learning

The University recognises that many prospective students particularly mature applicants, applying for courses have a vast range of expertise, skills and knowledge.

RPEL (Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning) and RPCL (Recognition of prior Certificated Learning) are processes that enable you to receive formal recognition for skills and knowledge you already possess that have not been previously assessed or awarded credit.

RPCL and RPEL are both available for UK and EU students.
