About the course

Project management is a transferable skill in increasing demand across industries, as well as being a professional in itself. Studying our Project Management (with Placement) MSc course will equip you with the knowledge and skills in the combined areas of planning and resource management alongside the interpersonal and leadership skills you need for placement. Through working with case studies and real project experiences, our unit in Project Management Theory and Practice will allow you to evaluate, adapt and apply project management principles to address complex challenges and optimise project outcomes. You will build on skills such as planning, communication, motivation, and initiative to meet demands in the field across various business contexts.

Digital projects and risk management are crucial in today’s business environment. Our Digital Projects and Risk Management unit teaches you how to apply advanced risk management techniques using industry-standard software, addressing risks such as environmental, social and governance (ESG), financial and security risks. Aside from this, you will develop a good understanding of supply chain and logistics concepts as you examine key issues in the design and management of contemporary supply chains in our Integrated Supply Chain and Logistics Management unit. With this information, you will learn to implement solutions for the design, control, operation and management of supply chains.

What will you study?


Our MSc in Project Management is designed to equip you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to excel in planning and resource management. Through a blend of case studies and real-world project experiences, our Project Management Theory and Practice unit will empower you to critically evaluate, adapt, and apply project management principles, enabling you to tackle complex challenges and optimise project outcomes. You will refine key skills such as planning, communication, motivation, and initiative, which are crucial for meeting the demands of various business contexts.

In today's digital landscape, managing risks effectively is paramount. Our Digital Projects and Risk Management unit will train you to apply advanced risk management principles and techniques using industry-standard software. You’ll learn to address a spectrum of risks, including environmental, social and governance (ESG), financial and security risks, within the context of digital projects. The importance of supply chain and logistics management cannot be overstated in contemporary business. Our Integrated Supply Chain and Logistics Management unit will deepen your understanding of these critical areas, allowing you to explore and address key challenges in the design and management of modern supply chains. You will develop the ability to design, control, operate, and manage efficient supply chains effectively.

Strategic insight is vital for any successful business leader. In our Strategy unit, you will gain a critical and informed understanding of business environments and the opportunities they present. You will be introduced to a comprehensive set of tools and concepts for strategic analysis and business modeling, enabling you to assess the strategic positioning of organisations, formulate strategies, evaluate options, and implement strategic decisions effectively. To cap off your learning journey, the Capstone unit will provide you with the opportunity to synthesise theory and practice by researching a topic of your choice within your field of study. You will be guided through the process of research methods by working closely with a research supervisor, helping you to develop and refine your ideas into a meaningful research project.

How will you be assessed?


Your assessments prepare you for career tasks and activities, developing your employability skills and industry-specific knowledge. Your assessments build your competencies and confidence with a strong emphasis on authentic assessment, including a mix-of:

There are no exams in this course. The capstone of your course is a dissertation, developing an individual independent piece of work under supervision.
