At the School of Applied Social Sciences, teaching and research combine to create a rich, supportive learning environment where you develop the skills to work successfully and contribute positively in global and diverse settings. We are a practice-led School, keen to ensure you can apply your degree in your chosen career.

Our #SASS Changemaker programme is designed so that you see yourself as something other than a student working towards a degree. We ask you to take an active role in bringing about change and working towards social justice.

Over 95% of our full-time UK graduates in health and social care are in employment and/or further study, 15 months after graduating (source: HESA Graduate Outcomes for 2020/21, pub 2023)

Our MA Childhood, Youth and Family Studies (youth work pathway) carries a JNC professional youth work qualification endorsed by the National Youth Agency.

Our School’s postgraduate research on forced migration, human trafficking and unaccompanied children has directly influenced policy-making and improved the protection of vulnerable migrants.
