Senior Lecturer in Primary Education and Humanities

Year 3 B.Ed Leader

Steve Rodwell

I joined the primary department at the University of Bedfordshire in 2006. I have taught on the undergraduate, postgraduate and masters level courses. Mostly I teach about primary humanities, science or professional studies.

I began working as a primary school teacher in 1995 in Buckinghamshire, mainly teaching in Key Stage 2 and 3. To gain some experience of teaching overseas I taught in Bermuda for three years.

Before entering into a career in education I worked as an ornithologist. I was fortunate to spend two and half years on the island of South Georgia, at the British Antarctic Survey base of Bird Island, participating in studies of albatrosses, penguins and seals.

I have also worked with the Wetland Trust, the Edward Grey Institute and the RSPB on a range of projects, including migratory bird studies and surveys in both Europe and Africa.
