Christopher May
Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing
I began nursing in 1978, studying Ophthalmics. I then pursued a career in Christian ministry where I eventually led a church for a number of years. I returned to nursing in 1997 becoming an RGN in 2000. I spent six months on a general surgical ward and then moved to pursue nursing in Accident and Emergency. Following this I became a Critical Outreach Specialist Nurse. During this phase of my career I also took secondment posts as a Resuscitation Officer and a Practice Development Nurse, where my key role was to invigorate and redesign our Statutory Training Programme. I then joined a Specialist Palliative Care Team, which I eventually led. It has always been my desire to eventually teach the next generation of nurses, having first acquired something to say and impart from a broad range of experience. I am a passionate advocate for the Nursing Profession and particularly in seeing End of Life Care improved and delivered effectively across the healthcare landscape.
