Chika J Anyigor

Lecturer in Public Health

I am a medical graduate, with post-graduate training in public health with the National post-graduate college of Nigeria. I have also received further training in health management, planning and policy with the University of Leeds funded by the Joint Japan World Bank scholarship scheme.

Over the years, I have gained a lot of experience teaching public health, - (with a track record for delivering the highest standard of tuition)-and in Public Health practice. These encompass teaching undergraduate medical students, postgraduate master's students, and medical/public health workers at local and international levels. Also, I have been involved in volunteering, community work, placements, and collaboration with government, non-governmental, and private organizations. With regards to research and research projects, I have been involved in a lot of projects (both completed and ongoing) with good results.

I started this role as a lecturer in public health in Bedfordshire University in August 2022, and enjoy approaching my teaching in an innovative way, adopting creative teaching strategies to enrich student experience, improve competency and engender transformative learning. Prior to this role, I had worker as academic tutor in Public health department, Sunderland University; teaching across a range of modules like social determinants of health and health inequalities, epidemiology and health measurement, and also supporting the public health BSc apprenticeship program and practised as a Public health physician in Alex Ekwueme federal teaching hospital in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.

The course units I teach, and my research interests are deeply intertwined; which makes it relevant to both the students and public health practise. I am very passionate about change, and I strongly believe that the public health realities of our contemporary world and the fast-changing challenges and needs of the future public health workforce (especially post covid-19 pandemic) will benefit from a new and fresh approach to learning which empowers students to solve real-life problems as they emerge.
