Lydia Whelan

I took up my position in 2013 and enjoy working with students, colleagues and placement providers to prepare for the placements that make up an essential part of all social work training at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

My role includes  developing and auditing placements, training placement supervisors and involvement in QA moderation processes.

I am a registered social worker and have related senior lecturer teaching responsibilities acting as a lead for some of the Undergraduate course units. I currently work two days a week.

* HEA Associate Membership 

* MBA exam - University of Reading 

* Post graduate Diploma and CQSW - University of Manchester 

* BSc (Hons) Social Studies - University of Wales

Teaching Expertise

* Unit lead for one element of the final year undergraduate programme 

* Contribute to teaching across a range of postgraduate and undergraduate courses. 

* Lead on Onsite Supervisors training  

* I have been a practitioner and manager in the statutory childcare sector for many years and have experience in adult social work practice and hospital social work
