Joanne McKeown

Tutor in Swimming and Physical Education

Joanne McKeown

I qualified as a teacher of Physical Education from Bedford in 1981 and have since had a career in both teaching and management. I have taught Physical Education in secondary schools and pupil referral units and then moved to further education where I taught Leisure and Tourism, Travel and Tourism and a number of management courses at foundation degree level in conjunction with the University of Hertfordshire.

I have considerable experience of leisure and recreation facility management, and within this area held a number of diverse roles, ranging from developing and running to swim programmes to being a leisure centre licensee.

I have a life long passion for all aquatic activities currently involved in swimming teacher education on the BA (Hons) Physical Education courses. I deliver swimming CPD courses both within and outside the university.
