Alison Hancock

Lecturer and ELT Tutor

Alison Hancock

A graduate of the University of Cambridge, I am qualified to teach English Literature and Drama, and Delta-qualified as an English language teacher. My experience ranges from higher education to the corporate world.

Over the years I have designed and delivered course materials for the University of Florence, the University of Bedfordshire and banks like Dresdner Bank in Germany and Merrill Lynch in London. I have also worked as an examiner for UCLES, the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, now known as Cambridge Assessment.

I have worked for the University of Bedfordshire since 2004, teaching English language and academic skills on Foundation and pre-sessional courses, and as a lecturer and teacher-trainer in English Language and Linguistics at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I now teach on a variety of courses on the Luton campus.

My twin passions for language and theatre keep me busy. I have acted and directed for various theatre groups and run occasional voice and accent workshops for my local theatre and professionals in business. I am a fluent Italian speaker, having worked in Italy for many years. Beyond that, I enjoy visiting art galleries, gardening, and occasionally try my hand at painting and drawing.
