The University of Bedfordshire was one of several partners in this £3m project, designed to respond to SEMLEP ESIF Priority 5 by delivering targeted interventions in order to develop a skilled and adaptable workforce. The project aimed to help SME employees improve their skills and progress to more advanced education and employment.

The project focused on the South East Midlands Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) showcase sectors, supporting employers in developing individuals to address intermediate, technical and higher-level gaps and shortages. Tailored to the business needs of these showcase sectors, provisions included, for example: targeted sector-specific initiatives; leadership and management courses; and apprenticeship taster sessions to prepare individuals for apprenticeship opportunities and progression.
