Welcome to BSc (Hons) Applied Sociology and Criminology
The BSc (Hons) Applied Sociology and Criminology offers an interdisciplinary foundation in understanding society, crime, and justice, blending theory with practical application. The course examines pressing social issues and institutional responses, preparing you to critically engage with the world around you.
From a criminological perspective, you will explore crime, deviance, and punishment. From a sociological perspective, you will study the structures and inequalities shaping society. You will also have opportunities to explore themes such as digital transformation, media representations of crime, and systemic issues in services and institutions.
Research training runs throughout the programme, ensuring you gain strong analytical and methodological skills.
By combining critical thinking, research, and applied learning, this course equips you with the tools to analyse and address complex social and criminological issues, and prepares you for a wide range of careers.
I encourage you to approach discussions with curiosity and openness, so together we can build an engaging and reflective learning community.
