JOG: Journalism and the Olympic Games

JOG was a group of senior scholars in the area of media and sport from institutions five different institutions, co-ordinated by Professor Garry Whannel at the Centre for International Media Analysis, University of Bedfordshire. It served to facilitate cross-institution and international collaborations, and to develop contacts between groups and individuals studying issues related to the Olympics, media, journalism and politics.

JOG History: The JOG Group was established in 2005 to develop research into journalism, politics and the Olympic Games during the period 2006-2012 . The work of the JOG Group commenced with research and analysis of journalism and media sport during the build up to the Beijing Olympic Games of 2008, and continued through to the London Olympic Games of 2012.

JOG was established in order to further academic research into media coverage of Olympic-related issues. JOG had no connection with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games and or any other Olympic Body and was not acting on behalf of any such body.
