Nahida Hussain

Teaching and Learning Coordinator

Nahida Hussain

I have been teaching sociology for over 18 years and have a keen interest in the sociology of health, social identity, and education. I am intrigued by cultural identities, and have embarked on research, as part of my PhD, on South Asian Women’s Identities and how they differ for different generations.

I took up a position as a tutor in Health and Social Care and am excited to continue teaching Sociology of Health and related modules. The courses that I design and teach allow me to use my many years of experience as a lecturer to ensure that my learners are able to realise their potential and succeed. This paves the way for me to conduct research in the sociology of health and inequalities, which I will pursue further.

I passionately believe that the inequalities that exist in our world, such as social class, gender, health, and ethnic differences, have an impact on one’s social identity and chances in life. My research interests and my teaching are very much driven by this passion.
