  • Funding body: ASIA-Link
  • Area of Activity: entrepreneurial development by means of methods of International Transfer of technologies
  • Contractor: University of Sannio (Italy)

Objectives

The objective of the project was the creation of a new curriculum aimed at the training of experts, from both Asian and European countries, capable of selecting suitable technologies within the system of scientific and industrial research and development activities (Universities, Public Research Centres, innovative companies) of a country which is not their own.

The sources would represent fundamental banks of knowledge and precious skills for innovation and competition in various sectors of production, which could be used:

  • a. to identify appropriate applications in beneficiary countries,
  • b. to transfer relevant technologies to local businesses in their own (beneficiary) countries; including existing businesses or for the creation of new businesses (including international research spin-offs ).

The intention was to create a detailed programme of study, well tuned both for European and Asian people, who could, in this way, participate in a programme of education with the scope of acquiring the knowledge and instruments for:

  • Creating closer collaboration between the world of scientific and industrial research and the world of highly technological countries, with particular reference to the SME.
  • To find suitable source of information, identify interesting technological information, and show them to potential users in very different countries, to promote entrepreneurial initiatives.
  • To identify needs for supporting companies’ problem solving process in their own countries, which utilize suitable technologies, as a consequence of the perception of the need for development and the growth of competition.
  • To select the technologies to be transferred from country to country with related organizational, managerial, financial and legal methodology necessary.
  • To find technical and legal support for acquisition of technologies by companies in the geographical areas interested in the initiative, identifying the specific sources of necessary financial resources.

The new curriculum was orientated towards:

  • emphasizing close interaction between business in the sector of high technology and universities and public research centres for technical consultation;
  • on-going action research involving both researchers and industry practitioners;
  • evaluating and making available to all the businesses in the geographical areas involved, the potential of present knowledge in the research structures of other countries, even those which are very distant;
  • establishing a permanent relationship between the businesses and new knowledge transfer models, created by local, national and international research;
  • contributing to the creation of regional policies for development of production activities based on the new technologies.
