  • Funding Programme: British Council: Creative Spark
  • Duration of the Project: 48 months
  • BC Grant: 117,000 GBP
  • Start Date: 1st October 2018

Aim and Objectives

Creative industry is becoming an important sector to boost competitiveness, productivity, employment and sustainable economic growth. However, people working in the sector face various challenges to develop innovative ideas and transform them into viable business enterprises. In Ukraine, the impact of creative industries is growing rapidly. However, support for entrepreneurial activity in these areas is rather poorly developed and requires comprehensive support from the state, business and education.

This project aims to develop a new partnership between the Business School of University of Bedfordshire (UBBS) and Ukrainian Engineering Pedagogics Academy (UEPA) to establish a Centre of the Creative Entrepreneurship Development (CCED) in UEPA.

CCED will include three main types of activities:

  • Training programs
  • Business support and consulting services
  • Annual roadshow of the best entrepreneur ideas and annual competition award for young creative entrepreneurs

The project will create positive impact on the creation of creative entrepreneurship and self-employment in the creative industries for the eastern Ukraine region. In the long run, the work of CCED will increase the number of start-up creative enterprises, generate new jobs, improve competitiveness of creative industry, and enable a sustainable ecosystem of youth entrepreneurship.

Outputs

  • Creation of a new innovative educational model for developing creative enterprises and entrepreneurial oriented curriculum
  • Pilot support portal to provide relevant educational materials and resources, and to link students, graduates and young entrepreneurs and other like-minded people to share their ideas and promote their business
  • Designing of new training programmes to develop the essential entrepreneurial skills

Outcomes

Through knowledge transfer, capacity building, pilot training and launching of CCED, the project will:

  • Raise awareness among the target groups in the UK and Ukraine
  • Help to develop new skills and abilities
  • Increase collaboration and share knowledge
