Research Graduate School

The Research Graduate School runs a structured induction programme for all research degree courses. It is expected that all new research students will attend the induction week at the Luton Campus of the University of Bedfordshire.

There are two registration points in the course of an academic year, October and March.

The week-long induction programme begins on the date of intake. This will be the 14th March 2022 for our next intake. All students are expected to attend the entire week (consideration is given to part time UK/EU students).

All applications require a minimum of four weeks from receipt to acceptance/rejection; two weeks for International Office review and two weeks for Academic review.

International students require six weeks for the processing of Visa/Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) applications following receipt of a conditional offer.

The deadline for international applications is set to allow students sufficient time to obtain the necessary documentation and to meet their conditions to enable them to start on the intake date.

The structured induction is designed to provide a training programme that will support the academic progression of the students. The initial programme takes place in the first week and further sessions are available over the next six months (they consist of training workshops and seminars designed to enhance the students' research skills).

The student's progress will be monitored by their Director of Studies and the Research Graduate School. If a student fails to complete the sessions within induction programme their academic progress may be impeded.
