Prospective students can approach us with proposals for research on any media related topics, but topics we are currently best equipped to supervise are:

• Sport, the Media and the Olympics
• ‘Citizen Journalism’ in UK Politics?: Marking the changes in the Public Sphere
• Researching the Audience for UK community radio
• Between Screen and Screen: Post-Jungian Insights into Gamers and Gaming
• Situating Digital Poetry: Innovative Poetics and Digital Practices
• How successful have authors and publishers been in developing the market in boys contemporary fiction and responding to political initiatives to target boys reading.
• Cross-media storytelling: convergence in the new media

We welcome proposals in the following fields:

• New Media
• Media History
• Creative writing
• Media industry
• Journalism
• Radio
• Music technology
• Creative practices in art and design (digital technologies)
• Performance (practice-led)
• e-dance

Proposals for research degrees may also be considered outside of these areas, depending on the availability of supervision, expertise and facilities.
