Generative AI

The University of Bedfordshire is actively exploring the potential of AI tools, such as Microsoft Co-Pilot, to enhance teaching, learning, and professional practice in inclusive and sustainable ways. We recognise the opportunities AI offers, but also its limitations, and are committed to ensuring that staff and students use these tools responsibly and ethically - particularly in sensitive areas like assessment and academic integrity.
To support this, we will continue to develop a suite of guidance materials and resources to help build AI awareness and capability across the University. A dedicated student-facing BREO unit is available below, providing a short course on the ethical, effective, and informed use of AI in learning. Students can complete this at their own pace and colleagues are welcome to promote this in-class to aid best practice. There is also a staff-facing BREO unit with the same short course and resources.
Staff and academic colleagues have access to a parallel set of resources designed to support the integration of AI into curriculum design, teaching practices, and assessment planning. These resources are regularly updated in line with institutional policy and sector-wide best practice.
If you have any questions, or would like to explore AI use further, please consult our AI Policy in the Document Library (UoB login required) or contact the team at BREOsupport@beds.ac.uk
