Our TV News Days are an exciting, adrenaline filled opportunity to make live news programming in the newsroom right here at the University.

You learn to shoot, edit and write for television in a professional environment keeping to deadlines and observing all the journalistic codes of conduct.

Roles

Structure

• The day starts with a morning meeting looking at the prospects for that day's programmes where everyone in the team come up with story ideas.
• Reporters are then sent out on specific stories; this could be a vox pop, a three minute news package or anything in between.
• Producers work on line-up for the programmes deciding which story will go where in the running order.
• Presenters start writing introductions and start writing and cutting headlines and trailers.
• Reporters come back to edit, write and voice their packages.
• The whole team comes together for "ON AIR" and the programme is presented live using the newsroom's own TV gallery and a studio set.
