Advice for University staff

The Bid Support Unit provides support to our researchers throughout all stages of the research life cycle, from development of ideas, through preparation of competitive applications to management and delivery of funded research projects.

We can help with

Identification of funding opportunities, bid development, partnership development and post award management:

We provide

  • Expertise and advice for academics and researchers to develop funding bids from the ideas stage to submission
  • Accurate costings based on the FEC model and pricing to ensure effective cost recovery
  • Expert guidance on the rules and regulations of research funders
  • Skills development for researchers and continuous support. As well as assiting on a case by case basis we also facilitate a Workshop series for staff & research students called the Professional Practitioner programme. This comprehensive range of training sessions helps academics understand the process and methods to find opportunities relevant to their specialist field
  • Advice in the use of our Research Management Administration System (RMAS)
  • Support and advice with REF-related enquiries and tasks
