Racism

Racism is when a person is treated worse, excluded, disadvantaged, harassed, bullied, humiliated or degraded because of their race or ethnicity.

It can manifest in many ways, from dislike or avoidance of an individual based on their race, negative bias, acts of race-based violence, or racial discrimination.

Bedfordshire is a very diverse, multicultural university and any incidents of racism and racist behaviour are taken very seriously. Find out more about current and relevant initiatives aiming to raise awareness about racism

If you or someone you know has experienced racism, you can access advice and support from the Student Engagement Advisors. They will also be able to help if you want to make a complaint or report an incident to the police.

You can submit a report anonymously.

  • If you are in immediate danger or seriously injured, you should call 999 straight away.
  • You can call the security team for assistance on 0800 389 8455 or, if you are on campus, visit any reception or Student Information Desk to ask for help.
  • If you are not in any immediate risk and want to raise a concern around a non-critical incident, you can use the link below to report a concern.
