- AI for NGO Community Outreach: Design a conversational AI system that helps NGOs engage communities (e.g., answering queries about services or events). Expected contribution & research are in trust, inclusivity, and accessibility in non-profit contexts (Danai Korre Danai.Korre@beds.ac.uk)
- Generative AI for Cross-Language Learning Support: Build an AI that helps international students bridge language barriers by generating simplified explanations. Expected contribution & research are in effectiveness of AI simplification in comprehension and inclusivity (Danai Korre Danai.Korre@beds.ac.uk)
- Conversational AI for Career Guidance: A Prototype Chatbot: Develop a single-purpose chatbot that provides tailored advice on either CV writing, interview preparation, or career path suggestions for students. Focus on one of these areas rather than all three to keep the project manageable. Expected contribution & research are in evaluate perceived usefulness, usability, and accuracy of the chatbot compared to existing resources (Danai Korre Danai.Korre@beds.ac.uk)
- AR Wayfinding for Inclusive Campuses: An AR navigation app designed to assist students with mobility or sensory challenges. Expected contribution & research are in accessibility and independence in navigating educational spaces (Danai Korre Danai.Korre@beds.ac.uk)
- AR Data Visualisation for Organisations: Build an AR tool for staff to visualise community data (surveys, impact metrics) spatially using XREAL glasses. Expected contribution & research are in effectiveness of immersive vs. 2D visualisations for decision-making (Danai Korre Danai.Korre@beds.ac.uk)
- Interactive AR for Learning Complex Concepts in Anatomy: Design a single AR module that allows users to explore an anatomical structure in 3D with interactive annotations. Expected contribution & research are in evaluate how AR visualisation impacts understanding (Danai Korre Danai.Korre@beds.ac.uk)
- AI for Movement and Behaviour Analysis: Explore machine learning and computer vision techniques to analyse movement (2D/3D) or behaviour from video or sensor data, with potential applications in healthcare, sports, or robotics (Massoud Khodadadzadeh Massoud.Khodadadzadeh@beds.ac.uk)
- AI-Driven Anomaly Detection in Sensor or System Data: Build AI models to detect unusual behaviours in a real-world system such as IoT networks, or healthcare monitoring (Massoud Khodadadzadeh Massoud.Khodadadzadeh@beds.ac.uk)
- Human–Robot Interaction and Personalised Robotics: Investigate ways to improve robot (Nao robot) communication and adaptability, including integration of machine learning, natural language processing and vision systems. This project requires doing a hand on projecvt on a robot available at school. This is a practical, hands-on project that requires continuous engagement and offers a valuable opportunity to work on a high-quality, real-world robotics system available at the school (Massoud Khodadadzadeh Massoud.Khodadadzadeh@beds.ac.uk)
- Intelligent Navigation and Interaction using Machine learning (2 projects): Use a robot (Limo cobot/unitree go2) to develop navigation, mapping, and human–robot interaction capabilities for scenarios such as search and rescue or assistive robotics. This is a practical, hands-on project that requires continuous engagement and offers a valuable opportunity to work on a high-quality, real-world robotics system available at the school (Massoud Khodadadzadeh Massoud.Khodadadzadeh@beds.ac.uk)
- Automated Vulnerability Scanning Framework for Small Enterprises Using Open-Source Tools (Chamitha De Alwis Chamitha.DeAlwis@beds.ac.uk)
