A University of Bedfordshire pre-registration nursing student has been shortlisted for a Student Nursing Times (SNT) Award.
John Scudder, a third-year adult pre-registration nursing student, based at the Butterfield Park campus, is up for the SNT’s Student Nurse of the Year: Adult Category award. He was nominated by his personal academic tutor, Sandra Leggetter. Sandra is Field of Practice Lead (Adult), in the University’s Faculty of Health and Social Sciences.
Following his nomination in March, John has now been shortlisted to the final round by the awards judging panel .The winner will be announced at the Student Nursing Times Awards Lunch on Tuesday, 1 May at the Grange Hotel, in the City of London.
John, who comes from Harpenden, Herts, said: “I’m surprised and delighted to have made it this far in the SNT Awards. I’ve really enjoyed my course and look forward to graduating this September. Winning this award would be fantastic.”
Sandra said: “John is an outstanding student. He is very hard working and will make an excellent registered nurse. He has demonstrated academic and nursing practice excellence, along with professionalism and new skills acquisition throughout his time on his course at Bedfordshire. I felt John should be recognised for his diligence and was very proud to sponsor his SNT award nomination. We look forward attending the awards ceremony next month.”
