Rebecca Meanley, London-based artist and part-time lecturer of Fine Art and Visual Art Practice at the University of Bedfordshire, is hosting the residency at Hontianske Trstany, near Levice.

Running from Sunday 7 September until Sunday 14 September, it will involve studio-based research and practice as well as travel in the nearby region, resulting in an exhibition in Slovakia.

Rebecca is an established and well-known abstract artist and has exhibited in a number of group shows and open competitions in London and the wider UK, as well as taking part in Open Studios.

Rebecca’s work was selected for inclusion in this year’s Royal Academy Summer Exhibition where her painting was hung by Humphrey Ocean RA. She also exhibited paintings in the Braziers Open in Oxfordshire this summer. Her recent London solo show Dissembling in 2012 showed an extensive series of small paintings and drawings based on personal experience.

Rebecca’s work has also recently been selected for an international touring exhibition From Here & There: Drawings from Swansea to Colorado. The exhibition begins in Colorado at The Clara Hatton Galley at Colorado State University from September to October 2014 and then tours to Swansea, Wales at the Elysium Gallery in November to December 2014. Rebecca’s work will be published in a catalogue to accompany the exhibitions.

A large scale painting by Rebecca has also just been selected for The Independent Artist Fair 2014 (TIAF London) taking place at the same time as the Frieze Art Fair in October 2014; the exhibition will be held in The Rag Factory on Brick Lane.
