A law lecturer from the University of Bedfordshire is in the running for a top legal award.

Dr Andreas Yiannaros, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Law & Finance, is one of handful of lecturers to make the shortlist of the Best Law Lecturer Award at this year’s (LCN) Training & Recruitment Awards.

Dr Yiannaros said: “To be nominated by our students for this prestigious award is the greatest reward for all our hard work in improving the student experience and inspiring people from all walks of life to love their subject.

“Having been part of the Bedfordshire family for over a decade, I am fortunate to be part of an amazing team of colleagues who are passionate about fostering professional skills and helping students improve and achieve their potential.”

Dr Yiannaros is himself a graduate of Bedfordshire, completing a law degree there in 2009, followed by a PhD in International Law, which he completed in 2013.

“I am grateful to have been selected out of nearly 400 nominated law lecturers across the UK and delighted that the University will be featured among other top universities during the awards,” said Dr Yiannaros.

Executive Dean for the University’s Business School Debra Leighton said: “We are all delighted that Andreas has made the shortlist for this prestigious award. It is testament to his passion and desire to give his students the very best experience, which is something we all strive to do.”

Dr Yiannaros will find out if he has won at a ceremony at Merchant Taylor’s Hall in London on Thursday 18 May.
