New students will be welcomed in style as the University of Bedfordshire gears up for Freshers’ Week 2018.

Freshers’ Week kicks off on Saturday 22 September where new students can get involved in a range of fun activities, including a silent disco, beach party and a bingo and quiz night. The week will conclude with the glittering Beds SU Freshers’ Ball at the Empire Nightclub in Bedford.

Freshers’ Fairs will also be held at the Luton campus on Monday 24 September and at the Bedford campus on Tuesday 25 September, where students can find out about support services and what is on offer around the University and the local area.

Student can also find out more about the wide variety of exciting societies open to them, including the Debate Society, Disney Society, Bad Movies Society and Pride in Beds.

The University’s Careers & Employability Service are also running part-time jobs fairs at Luton and Bedford, where students can meet local employers and find out about part-time employment opportunities.

The University’s Director for Student Experience Rumnique Gill said: “Our welcome activities aim to encourage students to embrace their time here, get involved and socialise in their first few days and weeks. The wide range of activities showcase what is available as part of the student experience outside the academic aspect of university life, and gives students an opportunity to get to know peers in various social settings. We look forward to welcoming all of our new students.”

Beds SU President Kieran Nixon said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming new students and showing them what Beds SU and the University has to offer. Our schedule of events has something for everyone and gives students the perfect opportunity to relax, make new friends and settle into university life.”

New students can also take advantage of a Welcome Package worth £450 over three years, which they can spend on a variety of course material, electronic equipment and other activities like the University’s Go Global programme.
