Clearing 2025: A return to university fuelled my media dreams
Thu 21 August, 2025
A student from the University of Bedfordshire has spoken about how returning to higher education after a break in her studies led her to finding the right path.
Clearing is your chance to take a new step toward your future – and at the University of Bedfordshire, it’s open until early October. Whether you're returning to education or making a fresh start, the Admissions team is here to support you. Call 0300 3300 073 or visit www.beds.ac.uk/clearing to discover your options.
Mandovi Jadoun has pursued a degree in Media, Marketing & PR and, despite facing personal health challenges, she’s shown strength and determination to pursue her ambitions.
I am studying Media, Marketing and PR. I chose the course because I am a returning student who studied Journalism for a year and a half in 2017 until I paused my studies and started working full time in sales.
My knowledge in communication and experience in customer handling and upselling designer goods made Media, Marketing and PR the best fit for my career progression and I decided to return to university. Having known the lecturers from 2017, it allowed me to return to University of Bedfordshire seamlessly.
My favourite part of being a student at the University of Bedfordshire is that I get to put my academic skills to practical use in my job roles such as Digital Student Ambassador and Student Visual Designer. I also like the convenience that the University’s Luton campus provides through its central location and easy access to shopping, bus stands, and two train stations.
I have always been creatively inspired and wanted to make a profession in digital creativity. However, before returning to university, I was stepping into many boats at one time with no proper results because I lacked direction. Returning to university has helped me find that direction by giving me the opportunity to learn and giving me access to industry-standard resources like Adobe and Microsoft 365. I am also able to apply my knowledge in my job roles, which are also within the University.
I wish to work in the advertisement industry as a designer once I have finished university. I believe my experience in sales and analytical nature makes me a natural at marketing. The additional design skills make the advertisement industry the best match for me. I also wish to follow up with an MBA after a few years of experience in my first job outside of university as a graduate.
My experience at the University of Bedfordshire has put in touch with tutors and mentors who have appreciated my skillset and pointed me in the right direction to find the job that suits me. My tutor, Jon Boyle, actively shares job opportunities with all the students in our WhatsApp group and refers us to his large network of business owners. I have also had a chance to work with real life clients for one of my assignments.
My advice to students looking to start university this year is that university is the only place that will give you the opportunity to learn professionalism under guidance and without judgement. It is also the place to network as you can make friends with people from different professions like nowhere else. It lays a very strong foundation for you to excel in your profession as university makes you habitual of learning new things and helps you stay curious for life.
