Mon 18 August, 2025
Balancing work, home life and a return to education isn’t easy – but a mature student from the University of Bedfordshire has made it happen by using Clearing to find his dream course.
Clearing at the University of Bedfordshire is a great opportunity to find a course that fits your goals and lifestyle – and applications are open until early October. Whether you’re juggling work, family, or just making a late decision, the admissions team is ready to help. Call on 0300 3300 073 or go online at www.beds.ac.uk/clearing.
James Eggleton used Clearing to apply for a Computer Games Development degree and has since built new skills and confidence, all while managing the demands of everyday life.
I am studying Computer Games Development. I chose this course as I have always had a passion for gaming and games. I had some truly amazing experiences with the format that have helped me through difficult times and situations, and I wanted to be able to bring that to someone. I enrolled via Clearing and started on a Foundation Year, and have now just finished my second year of study.
There are a lot of things I love about being a student at the University of Bedfordshire, but my favourite thing would have to be the lecturers. They are some of the most inspiring and supportive people you could hope to meet. They go out of their way to help you achieve and grow.
I have had some confidence issues in the past and a lack of belief in myself and my abilities, but my time at the University of Bedfordshire has shown me how capable I am as well as showing me how much I have to learn in order to keep on growing.
I want to become a gameplay programmer and eventually transition into becoming a technical artist as I have an aptitude for programming and for 3D modelling.
My experience at the University of Bedfordshire has been very good. I believe it will give me a strong chance at gaining access to a job in the industry.
Find your passion, it isn’t about the pay. It is about finding something that makes you excited to get up. Every job will have its bad days but having a job you love means those days are nowhere near as hard to deal with. Go for it, live your dreams.
