University of Bedfordshire Vice Chancellor to retire in December
Wed 27 August, 2025
The University of Bedfordshire has announced that Vice Chancellor Professor Rebecca Bunting will retire in December after six years leading the University and 11 years serving as a Vice Chancellor.
Earlier this summer, Professor Bunting informed Simon Yun-Farmbrough, Chair of the Board of Governors, of her intention to step down at the end of the year.
Professor Bunting said: “After six years at the University of Bedfordshire, and 11 as a Vice Chancellor, it is the right time for me personally, and the right time for the University, as it embarks on developing a new strategy to take it through the next five years and beyond. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to lead the University and to work with so many talented colleagues.”
The Board of Governors is in the process of appointing an executive search firm to lead the recruitment of the next Vice Chancellor.
Simon Yun-Farmbrough, Chair of the Board of Governors, said: “Professor Bunting has provided outstanding leadership during a period of significant change for the University. We are grateful for her contribution, and we wish her every happiness in her retirement.”
The University will make further announcements about the appointment process for her successor in due course.
