Dr Birgitte Pedersen

Course Tutor and Research Supervisor

Work Context

I am the organisation and leadership course tutor on the Professional Doctorate in Systemic Practice. I also supervisor a number of systemic and relationally oriented doctoral researchers who either have senior organisational leadership roles or their own companies.

Outside of my part-time university work, I head strategy driven change processes - from the inside. Currently I work as HR & Communications Director in a consultancy company going through rapid change from one preferred place to another. The overall aim of my practice is to promote clarity and understanding and to build new bridges which stress the interconnectivity of the parts in the whole. I look beyond storytelling, models, tools and recipes as the only ways of working with change - as a counterpoint to the traditional, mechanical (Cartesian) ways of viewing structures, problems and processes expected to lead to change in behaviour and performance. In this way my practice is not restricted to board rooms only, but is very much reflected in the coordination of everyday life in touch points such as between colleagues and clients, between standard operational procedures and the richness of collaboration, between humans and technology, between interior design and social media, between narratives and storytelling, between new ways of living/practicing and the identity of the practitioner.
