On the day - important instructions

Arrival at the venue

On arrival at the venue for graduation you must register with the graduation team – this is where you will collect tickets for yourself and your guests. Graduation registration opens two hours before the start of your ceremony. It will close half an hour before the start of your ceremony.

You should then collect your gown from Ede & Ravenscroft. There is usually time, if you arrive early, for you to have official photos taken before the ceremony.

The ceremony

You should be in your seat 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony. You will be seated in presentation order so please ensure you are in the correct seat.

Guests should be seated 15 minutes before a ceremony starts. Please retain your seat tickets as they are needed to enter the refreshments venue after the ceremony.

Please note your ceremony will start at the time indicated in the second letter you receive. It is regretted that due to the formal nature of the ceremony, late comers cannot be admitted See order of proceedings

Most ceremonies last about an hour and a half. At the end of the ceremony graduates will process out before guests.

After the ceremony

After the ceremony graduates will be lead out of the venue behind the academic procession and are invited to join in a group photo, located nearby, with the Vice Chancellor and Ceremony President.

Refreshments will be served at a nominated location. The location will be marked on maps and signs around the site.

In the refreshments location you will be able to buy items, such as University memorabilia, DVDs of the ceremony, frames, University hoodies etc.

The Alumni and Careers teams will also be on hand.

You can now also get your official photos if you didn't have time to have them taken earlier.
