Celebrating your Achievements!

Graduation is a time for celebration and a highlight of the University calendar. We hope your graduation will be an enjoyable day with family, friends and faculty.

At UoB we host 2 rounds of graduation ceremonies a year, one in the summer and one in the winter. Please click the link for more information on the next graduation dates and locations

All final year and completing students will be invited to attend a graduation ceremony. If for some reason you do not receive an invitation please get in touch with the graduation team at Graduation@beds.ac.uk

You should book even if you do not know your results. However, in order to be able to attend a graduation ceremony you must have had your award confirmed at the University's Exams (Scheme) Board and have no outstanding debts. If you are not eligible to attend, your invitation will be automatically rolled over to the next round of graduation ceremonies.

After consultation with students and in response to feedback we have received in previous rounds of graduation, the graduation team have been working hard to deliver a new and improved graduation service for our students.

So what changes have we made?

  • Revised our Ceremony Timeline – In response to our student survey and in line with the wider higher education sector, graduations at UoB will now run twice a year; in the Winter (January) and in the Summer (July). This will give you more time to plan and prepare for your graduation and enable more of our overseas students to join in too.
  • Improved our Graduation webpages – we’ve updated our webpages to include a comprehensive walkthrough of the graduation process from booking your place to what to expect on the day; as well as a look at the services and provisions we have in place for when you leave us as new UoB graduates.
  • Developed a certificate issuance process – we will be issuing your award certificates after they have been conferred by the Exam Board. This means everyone gets their certificate after the release of results, and at the same time, regardless of whether you are attending graduation or graduating in absentia (without attendance).
  • Improved our communications –we have developed clearer branded communications so you do not miss out on important information about your graduation.
  • Updated our Graduation Ts and Cs – We’ve revised our terms and conditions to make them clearer for you and your guests when it comes to graduation. View our updated Ts and Cs [PDF]
  • Revised our deferral policy – so you know what your options are if you cannot attend your graduation ceremony. Click here to read about our deferral policy in our Ts and Cs [PDF]
  • Standardised our pricing for extra guest tickets - so extra guest tickets are the same lower fee as your guaranteed 2 guest tickets (where it is possible to make extra guest tickets available depending on capacity). Click here to read about guest ticket pricing in our Ts and Cs [PDF]
  • Enhanced your experience on the day– we have already started planning your big day to make it a memorable and enjoyable event for all graduates. We look forward to seeing you there!

The graduation team is committed to continually improving our services, so check back regularly for updates.

We look forward to welcoming all new graduates to celebrate with faculty, family and friends!

Important information about your graduation ceremony

Graduations as public events

We are glad to be able to return to in person graduation events. All graduands, guests and staff attending graduation ceremonies should be aware that ceremonies are regarded as public events.

Names and faculties of graduands (including those graduating in absentia) are published in the graduation commemorative programme, on University branded clothing (t-shirts etc) from our supplier, Campus Clothing, and occasionally in publicity materials. Through the online booking process you can opt out of having your name included.

Photos taken by our marketing team may be uploaded to our social media feeds after the event and you can view them on our Official UoB Flickr Page

See you soon!

Members of the Faculty look forward to seeing you and your guests to celebrate your success at your degree congregation and awards ceremony.
