There are several ways to fund postgraduate study [PDF], and many people are able to complete higher level study, but you will need to be a little more creative about where to find this financial support.

Postgraduate Taught Degree Tuition Fee Alumni Discount (UK/EU Students) 2020/21

The University of Bedfordshire is proud of its alumni and is delighted to offer a tuition fee discount for those who choose to continue or return to the University for on campus Postgraduate level studies.

We offer a 20% discount on full and part-time Masters courses to those who were successful in completing an Honours Degree with the University of Bedfordshire, DMU’s Bedford campus or the University of Luton.

Student Finance can offer a loan of up to £11,570 as a contribution towards course fees and living costs.

You must meet certain nationality and residency criteria, as well as meeting age and previous study criteria.

Sports Scholarships are available for students who have a record of performance in sport and who aspire to train and compete at the highest levels.


The Access to Learning Fund can provide discretionary additional support to Home and EU status students to help them access and remain in higher education if they need help to meet extra costs that cannot be met by other types of support.

Students who are experiencing financial hardship can apply to the fund to help alleviate some unexpected expenses, such as childcare, travel, rent and course related costs.  See the  Access to Learning Fund guide [PDF] for more information.


In these difficult and challenging times support for the young people of the Borough of Luton is even more important.

Awards are given for career advancement or to progress aspirations within Culture, Vocational, Education or Sporting achievement to enable them - 'to step up and realise their ambitions and to fulfil their dreams'.
