Unji Mathur, Director of People and Culture
Unji Mathur joined the University of Bedfordshire as Director of People & Culture in October 2025. In this role, she leads the strategic design and delivery of the University’s people and culture agenda, supporting organisational effectiveness, colleague experience and capability in alignment with the Transforming Bedfordshire strategy.
Unji has held senior leadership roles across a range of sectors, with significant experience leading people, organisational development and digital change portfolios. Prior to joining the University, she served as Director of People, Technology and Transformation at Bron Afon Community Housing, where she oversaw People, Technology, Business Improvement, Communications and Organisational Development. She has also held director-level roles at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Phoenix Housing, Guide Dogs, United Response and City of Westminster College.
Her work particularly focuses on enabling high-performing, inclusive cultures and modern, digitally-enabled ways of working.
Unji is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She holds a Master’s in Human Resource Management from Middlesex University and undergraduate degrees from Brunel University and the University of Manchester.
