Professor Andrew Church, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation)

Andrew Church

Professor Andrew Church joins Bedfordshire from his previous position as Associate Pro Vice Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) at the University of Brighton, which included being Director of the Brighton Doctoral College.

Andrew is also a Professor of the University of Bedfordshire, undertaking research that is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative. He is currently working on a £1.8m project called Brown Gold funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Global Challenge Research Fund.

The project involves social scientists, micro-biologists, water scientists and inclusive artists working together to examine marginality, sanitation and wastewater challenges in five growing towns in Ethiopia, Ghana, India and Nepal.

Andrew will actively contribute to the University’s sustainability agenda and is very committed to community-university engagement activities having been the Co-Academic Director of the University of Brighton’s Community University Partnership Programme.
