Safer Young Lives is part of the Institute of Applied Social Research

Overview of project

The core aim of the pilot is to raise awareness of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) amongst those who work in the 'Night Time Economy' (NTE) and safeguard young people at risk.

NTE workers includes a range of industries from security, fast food outlets, taxi drivers, A&E and health, hotels and B&Bs, and other establishments where they may come into contact with young people at risk of or experiencing sexual exploitation.

Each area has selected a number of specific NTE industries for awareness raising and campaigns. For example, universities, bars/ night clubs and taxi drivers.

University of Bedfordshire will look to ascertain the effectiveness of the CSE awareness raising activities in each LA by considering NTE workers ability, confidence and awareness in identifying and reporting CSE.
