How to write for the Journal of Pedagogic Development

Original contributions (not previously published, whether hard or soft copy) are welcomed.

Papers should have an abstract of 150 to 250 words. After the abstract, please supply a list of keywords, up to a maximum of 10.

All papers must be accompanied by a covering page detailing:

  1. the title (and subtitle if applicable) of the work
  2. the word count
  3. the name(s) of the author(s)
  4. the contact details of the lead author.

Papers will be reviewed and either:

  • accepted for publication
  • accepted on the basis of some revisions being made
  • rejected (with thanks).

Any paper previously published in a language other than English will be considered if submitted in an English translation suitable for publication.

When submitting a paper, the author must confirm:

  • the paper or its main argument and content has not been published elsewhere and is not being considered for publication elsewhere, in whole or in part
  • the paper does not contain any potentially libellous matter
  • the paper does not involve any breach of copyright.

Papers between 3000 and 4000 words long are actively encouraged, and the maximum length for manuscripts is 8,000 words.

If your manuscript is longer than this, please contact David Mathew david.mathew@beds.ac.uk to discuss.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from the copyright owner to reproduce any previously published material within their manuscript.

If the manuscript contains previously published material (including quotations, poetry, song lyrics and pictures), authors will be asked to provide evidence that permission to republish has been given.
