In order to make sure that our sessions can go ahead safely, we are complying with the rules put in place by Basketball England.

  • Adults must adhere to the ‘rule of six’ if they’re playing non-elite team basketball indoors – this means playing in a group of no more than six people from different households.
  • All members have read and understood Appendix 4
  • All clubs have an assigned COVID-19 Officer
  • Screening protocols are taking place as per our guidelines which include temperature checking prior to entry
  • Venue mitigation strategies are in place including one-way systems and clear signage
  • Any incidents are being reported to Basketball England
  • All non-playing staff are wearing face coverings
  • Webinars to watch to get a further understanding
  • The Universities rule on the number allowed in the venue at any one time remains at 6. This means a maximum of 6 athletes can train at once or 5 and a coach.

Club information

The Basketball club offers opportunities to players of all abilities, whether you want to compete at a high level or just play for fun. Our club consists of a highly competitive men's team and women's team, each participating in the BUCS league and cup competition. Our men's side are in Midlands 4B and our women's side in Midlands 2B, one of the highest leagues out of all University of Bedfordshire teams.

Venue

The basketball team train and host their home fixtures at the well-equipped Polhill Sports Arena. There are frequent trains from Luton to Bedford, and a free University bus from Bedford train station which stops right on campus, making it an easy venue to get to.

Training times

There will be free travel for all competitive sports members from the Luton campus. Come find us a Freshers for more information.

How to join

To join our team, follow these simple steps:

  1. Download the BUCS Play app form the app store
  2. Create at BUCS Play account using your STUDENT EMAIL ADDRESS and then search for Bedfordshire Basketball
  3. Pay for sports membership using the link below

Not too sure whether you want to join? Don't worry, you have until October the 31st to pay for a sports membership. Just complete steps 1 and 2 and then get in touch with us on our socials.
