Suspension of studies
A suspension of studies is when the university temporarily breaks or pauses your studies for a specified period and is usually the outcome of another process. The reasons why the university might suspend your studies include:
- Failure to follow the University’s code of conduct policy
- A change in your status affecting your immigration status and/or visa compliance
- Financial reasons
- A fitness to study decision
- The investigation stage of an academic appeal
- A break in your studies due to the availability of units or availability of a Post Graduate Research Supervisor
(Note: A suspension is different from an interruption. If you are wanting to take a break from your studies then please refer to our interruptions webpage and course interruptions policy [PDF]
What are the different levels of suspension and how do affect access to resources and the campus
There are two levels of suspension (full and partial) which impact on your ability to attend classes, submit assignments and access the campus, systems, software and support services. The details are as follows:
- Full Suspension – No access to campus, cannot attend classes or submit assessment and cannot access any university accounts or systems. Access to some support services are available
- Partial Suspension – Access is the same as a fully registered student
If you are unsure about what support services you can access whilst you are suspended then please contact the Student Engagement Team to discuss what services are available to you and how you can access them whilst complying with the conditions of your suspension
