The Department of Computer Science and Technology (CST) has recently been awarded accreditation from the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), one of the largest multidisciplinary professional engineering institutions in the world.

The accreditation means that the department is recognised for delivering high quality internationally respected undergraduate and postgraduate courses and degrees that provide an ideal preparation for aspiring professional engineers.

To get the accreditation, the CST department had to work very closely with the IET to ensure that the programmes comply at all levels with the stringent IET requirements. This included introducing new measures to further improve teaching standards and the quality of delivery of their undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Dr Shyqyri Haxha, Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering, headed the process to gain the accreditation. He had this to say: "As IET accreditation coordinator, I am very happy and proud that all our Engineering programmes are accredited by such prestigious independent professional engineering institution, and I also would like to thank everybody in the CST department and the University of Bedfordshire for their support. We will continue to work hard interacting with our students to support them for future advanced engineering and technology developments."
