The University of Bedfordshire has provided a complete rebranding exercise for a small brewing company in Leighton Buzzard.

Alcohol is big business in the UK. The alcohol industry is worth £36 billion, employing 2 million people, and over a 1,000 breweries. In an increasingly crowded market, the importance of standing out cannot be underestimated. Through effective branding, an organisation can differentiate itself from the competition and promote its best qualities simultaneously.

Working with the University, Leighton Buzzard Brewing Company wanted to make sure that their branding is clear and effective, particularly as they are looking to branch out into cans. To do this, they need a clear brand and a new label, as well as guidance on branding in the beer sector.

Vivienne Cherry, Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design, took the lead on the re-branding exercise and provided a detailed analysis of the brand's strengths and weaknesses, a breakdown of the market, and an overview of the competition. Armed with this information, Leighton Buzzard Brewery are set to grow their business through effective brand positioning and establishing a strong visual identity in a crowded market.
