Around 70 guests attended a conference hosted by the University of Bedfordshire to celebrate International Women’s Day.

The conference focused on the theme ‘I Am More’ and was organised by final year Project Management students Damian Grychowski, Roxana Haytova and Nguyen Trang, with support and guidance from the University’s Careers and Employability Service and sponsor Enterprise Rent-a-Car.

Speakers at the conference included honour violence survivor and former Police Community Support Officer Sarb Athwal and author of Walk with Wings Tene Edwards, as well as an expert panel made up of Talent Acquisition Manager at Enterprise Rent-A-Car Regina Van Burkleo, Head of Service at Stepping Stones Nicola Panton and Executive Dean of the University’s Business School Debra Leighton.

Guests were also able to make donations to Stepping Stones, a local charity dedicated to supporting women who have faced domestic abuse.

Head of the University’s Careers & Employability Service Michelle Everitt said: “It was wonderful to see a wide range of speakers and organisations across different sectors at the conference. The University takes pride in supporting its communities and working with a range of businesses. We are extremely proud of the way in which Damian, Roxy and Joy showcased their skills and abilities in organising this fantastic event. We would also like to thank Enterprise Rent-A-Car for generously sponsoring the event.”
