The University of Bedfordshire recently hosted a Real Madrid Foundation Clinic, which aims to develop the physical and technical abilities of young football players aged 8 – 14 years old.

Hosted at the University’s Bedford campus on Tuesday 25th July, the one-day Clinic was sold out and specifically designed for young players looking to develop their game and showcase their passion for the sport.

Speaking about the event, David Pears, Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science (Coaching), said: “The School of Sport Science & Physical Activity was delighted to welcome Real Madrid Foundation Coaching Clinics to our Bedford Campus. The one day camp on 25th July offered participants the opportunity to train and play ‘the Real way’. We hope that this camp is the first of many and that we can continue to work with the Foundation in the future in other ways that benefit both organisations.”

The methodology used in Real Madrid Foundation Clinics is the same that is applied in the Real Madrid Academy to train the club’s youth team players. The sessions are delivered by experienced coaching staff who focus on both individual and group development of players.

The University of Bedfordshire was selected to host the Clinic due to its impressive sporting facilities, including a brand new state-of-the-art Strength & Conditioning suite. The Bedford campus is also home to large sports fields and the Sports Science labs.

The aim of these Clinics are to encourage participants to improve their footballing abilities and sporting values, as well as aiding their social and individual development.

A spokesperson from Real Madrid Foundation Clinics UK added: “Real Madrid Foundation Clinics UK, powered by Coerver Coaching England & Wales and in partnership with Pro:Direct Soccer, offer boys and girls in the UK access to highly skilled coaches from Real Madrid's renowned training staff and will engage in comprehensive training sessions that cover various aspects of the game.

“The clinics are designed to create an immersive environment where young footballers can flourish, maximise their potential and #PlaytheREALway using the same methods as those experienced by players within Real Madrid's academy.”
